POSITION TITLE:  Instructional Coach (Middle School)

 

REPORTS  TO:          Director of Curriculum & Instruction- Secondary , Building Principal 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time Professional Contract beginning 2025-2026 School Year

 

 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pennsylvania Level II teaching certification
  • Track record or evidence of improving student achievement in their classroom;
  • Demonstrated deep knowledge of and experience in:
  1. Content of Best Instructional Strategies/Differentiation
  2. Technology integration and class management
  3. Best Conditions of Learning for students
  4. Assessment driven instruction (teaching/learning process)
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and use of a rich array of instructional approaches,
  6. Resources and technologies across the content areas;
  7. Demonstrated skills in analyzing and using data for instructional decision making;
  8. Interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills required to effectively facilitate coaching and staff development;
  9. Ability to design and/or broker (individually or in collaboration with others) high quality professional development for teachers/school staff;
  10. Knowledge of equity issues in current education reform;
  11. Knowledge and skills to implement a standards-based education system and familiarity with PA Core and Academic Standards

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The coach's goal is to ensure that school staff acquires the understanding and skills to enhance
    instructional practices at the classroom level by:

  1. Identifying areas of student need through data analysis, with additional data sought as needed
  2. Helping teacher choose appropriate instructional practices to meet student needs, with monitoring and adjustment as needed; focused on increasing appropriate differentiation based on student need
  3. Increasing student engagement


         Other Essential Job Functions

  1. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students for whom they are responsible.
  2. Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
  3. Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
  4. Guide and counsel students with adjustment or academic problems, or special academic interests.
  5. Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisors.
  6. Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  7. Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
  8. Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.
  9. Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
  10. Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.
  11. Assume any other job-related responsibilities as assigned by the Building Principal.
