The Role
The Newport plant ships bulk and packed chemicals worldwide direct to customers and also to other stock points for two separate business entities. Orders are entered in SAP from Customer Service Centres in various world areas. A team of Logistic Planners at Newport are responsible for processing those orders.
The role will include:
Supporting ongoing efforts to ensure high level of customer service for all businesses i.e. Eastman & Italmatch.
- Provide support to Customer Service Representatives to ensure orders can be processed in a timely manner;
- Manage carriers to ensure least cost option is used and collection/delivery dates are met;
- Meet dispatch requests not handled in SAP systems in a timely and cost-effective manner;
- Ensure proper documentation is supplied to enable customs processes to be met in line with Brexit requirements.
Optimisation of work processes with Warehouse/Production/QA to improve safety, efficiency and quality.
- Liaise with Production/Warehouse to ensure goods are ready in a timely manner;
- Utilise appropriate systems for order preparation to ensure defined process is scanned as per business requirements;
- Follow up with QA to ensure timely dispatch of COAs.
The Person
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience of shipping operations managed in integrated computer systems such as SAP;
- Be able to handle multiple tasks and resolve problems that can happen at any point during the order process;
- Work in a professional manner with schedulers, customer service representatives and carriers in resolving problems to ensure on time delivery to customers;
- Be able to demonstrate positive, professional behaviour to both internal customers and external contacts;
- Be an efficient problem solver and independent thinker;
- Be a team player with open and direct communication style.
