Church & Dwight UK Ltd have an exciting opportunity for a Packaging Engineer

Join our dynamic R&D group and be part of a team that works with cutting-edge technologies across commercialized product lines, including medical devices and oral & personal care products. Our collaborative environment offers the opportunity to work with diverse teams internally and externally, including third-party manufacturers, raw material suppliers, and laboratories.

As a Packaging Engineer within our Technical Service team, you will coordinate all activities related to the post-launch maintenance of products. This role requires a proactive approach to managing packaging materials and ensuring a robust supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and qualify packaging materials for our portfolio of cosmetic and medical devices.
  • Execute package testing plans for new or replacement packaging in-house and at contract manufacturers.
  • Manage project testing documentation and define packaging process limits and quality systems.
  • Collaborate with the processing team for online trial validation until successful RTM.
  • Provide factory support for pack design-related engineering issues.
  • Understand line capability for product packing and assist the process team with industrial line trials.
  • Produce documentation for technical dossiers and customer specifications.
  • Identify opportunities for supply resilience and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Explore new possibilities for cost savings and sustainability improvements by attending external exhibitions.
  • Manage and develop assigned interns to achieve their objectives.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong ownership mentality with a focus on results and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work cross-functionally and internationally, and meet business goals.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and database programs.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to interface with third-party manufacturers and support the packaging development team.
  • Assist with quality investigations related to packaging processes.
  • Demonstrated accomplishment orientation.

Education & Experience:

  • University degree or A-level in sciences/design or equivalent industry experience.

Working hours are 39 per week: Monday – Friday. Flexibility outside of these hours may be required to meet the needs of the role and there will be occasional business travel required. This role is based on site 4-5 days per week dependent on business needs.
