The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a dynamic and service-oriented Catering Services Assistant to join the team at the Clocktower Centre, our premier performing arts and events venue. In this hands-on role, you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality hospitality experiences across civic events, bar and café services, and venue hire functions. Working within a small and supportive team, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant arts and culture environment where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service to patrons, clients and hirers across café, bar, and function services.
- Act as the primary point of contact for civic functions and meetings, ensuring smooth delivery of services and excellent client care.
- Supervise casual hospitality staff during events and bar service, maintaining service standards and compliance with safety and licensing requirements.
- Support the coordination of catering logistics including stock management, food preparation, set-up and pack-down of event spaces.
- Ensure all safety, compliance and food handling standards are met, including completion of relevant reports and documentation.
- Act as after-hours venue supervisor on occasion, overseeing emergency protocols and client needs.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will be experienced and confident supervising staff, handling catering and bar operations, and responding effectively to the dynamic needs of events. You will hold current Responsible Service of Alcohol and Safe Food Handling certifications and ideally bring experience in commercial food preparation and stock management. Experience with POS systems, Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn venue management software will support your success. You must be available to work rostered shifts Monday to Sunday between 7am and midnight, and a current Police Check and Working with Children Check are mandatory. A tertiary qualification in Hospitality Management and First Aid certification is desirable.
