As the Senior Manager Operations- Process Engineering, you will lead a site-based team of operations engineers supporting aseptic pharmaceutical manufacturing operations — with a focus on fill/finish and secondary packaging. You will be responsible for the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of production equipment and processes.

In this highly visible leadership role, you will provide technical direction, drive operational excellence, and ensure sustained equipment performance across the production lifecycle. The role requires collaboration across Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Safety functions to meet performance, compliance, and strategic business objectives. You will also partner with the Engineering/Operations leaders to influence long-term asset lifecycle planning, capital prioritization, and technology advancement.

This position is key to enabling site readiness, supply continuity, and operational efficiency within a regulated, fast-paced, and mission-critical environment.

What You Will Achieve

In this role, you will:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing team of process engineers.  Provide coaching, career development, and technical mentorship.

  • Reliability & Maintenance Oversight: Ensure reliable and efficient operation of equipment used in aseptic fill/finish and secondary packaging. Drive preventative and predictive maintenance practices, equipment uptime, and spare part strategies.

  • Process Optimization: Own and advance manufacturing processes using Lean, TPM, and OEE principles. Lead changeover time reduction and throughput improvement initiatives.

  • Cross-Functional Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison between production engineering/maintenance and operations, quality, safety, and capital engineering. Represent the function in cross-functional investigations, tech transfers, and new product launches.

  • Capital & Asset Planning: Collaborate with Site Capital Engineering to assess long-range capital needs, asset lifecycle strategies, and equipment replacement/modernization initiatives.

  • Compliance & Investigations: Lead or support deviation investigations, CAPAs, and audit responses related to equipment and process performance.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute short- and long-term operational strategies that align with production goals, compliance requirements, and corporate standards.

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline).

  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, engineering, or production maintenance with progressive responsibility.

  • 4+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial capacity, overseeing technical teams.

  • Demonstrated expertise in equipment reliability, TPM, or process improvement in a regulated GMP environment.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex technical projects.

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)

  • Master's degree with relevant pharmaceutical industry experience

  • Experience in aseptic fill/finish or sterile pharmaceutical production.

  • Familiarity with automated packaging systems, isolators, CIP/SIP, or environmental monitoring, aseptic filling equipment.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, OEE, and equipment qualification processes.

  • Strong communication, leadership presence, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Experience in leading regulatory and customer audits

  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and innovation

  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence senior management decisions

  • Experience in knowledge management and sharing practices

  • Ability to assess and develop talent within the organization

  
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time throughout the day.

  • Must be able to meet requirements to entered graded spaces (including gown training for these environments).

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be willing and able to work beyond regular hours as needed, including weekends and holidays.

  • No routine travel is required; this is an on-site leadership role. Occasional travel may be required to support the business needs.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $135,100.00 to $225,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
