Prof Mahshid research laboratory, at the Department of Bioengineering, is seeking to hire 2 part time Research Assistants 2, to support research related to the nanostructures for biosensing applications.
Main Responsibilities:
- Set up experiments according to provided protocols or develop protocols; suggest optimizations and recommendations.
- Maintain records, compile, and file data.
- Contribute to the design, fabrication, and characterization of nanostructures for biosensing applications, with a focus on nanoparticles such as extracellular vesicles (EVs), lipid nanoparticles, and other biomolecules related to cancers
- Contribute to manuscript writing
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of optical properties of nanomaterials and their application in biosensing.
- Hands-on experience with nanofabrication, especially e-beam patterning and nano-synthesis.
- Familiarity with biosensing approaches, including optical biosensors and SERS spectroscopy.
- Experience working with nanoparticles, such as EVs, lipid nanoparticles, or similar biomaterials.
- Proven ability to combine bioassays with advanced materials.
- Excellent command of English
- Familiarity with lab safety regulations and best practices
