We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Risk Assurance Officer join our team! The role can be flexibly based in one of our UK offices which include Bedford, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Guildford and Exeter. We operate a hybrid working model and you may also be required to travel to other sites as part of your role.
You will assist the Head of Corporate Risk by providing a responsive and helpful service to clients by means of a sound and professional evaluation of risk management. This will be delivered through risk management improvement activity, assurance assignments including National Highways Management Assurance process, assurance mapping, and provision of ongoing support and guidance in line with our Corporate Risk Management Policy.
- Providing ad hoc, objective and practical support and advice to management / stakeholders on risk management arrangements in line with the Corporate Risk Policy and framework.
- Contribute to the recording and monitoring of assurance activities aligned to the four lines of assurance model, against our key and emerging principal risks.
- Contributing to the management of client relations and expectations with staff and managers at all levels.
- Leading small teams to deliver specific assignments or as part of the delivery of the risk strategy, ensuring that professional standards are adhered to and that outputs are of high quality.
- Providing challenge, support and insight to the business on all matters relating to risk and risk management.
- Delivering the National Highways Management Assurance process to meet the needs of the Board and Department for Transport.
About you.
- Qualified, or part qualified risk management professional (Institute of Risk Management or equivalent) or equivalent working experience.
- Experience of understanding complex environments, including company processes and policies, and how they inter-relate.
- Experience of analysing and conveying complex and challenging information to a variety of audiences, including senior management.
- Knowledge of audit and risk management principles and methodologies.
- Experience of working with Risk Management systems/database applications is desirable.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
