Business Content

• You will be responsible for a wide range of product management tasks in the Mercari Group's Trust & Safety (TnS) area (fraud/abuse prevention, financial crime prevention). You will use products to solve issues related to unauthorized logins, fraudulent payments, and fraudulent listings. In addition to improving existing features, you will also participate in internal fraud prevention projects. This position will allow you to exercise a great deal of discretion in everything from formulating mid-term strategies for TnS products to implementing current product tasks and improving fraud monitoring operations.

Product Manager (Bilingual – Japanese/English)

Division: Trust & Safety | Product Area: TnS Tools | Location: India (Hybrid/Remote)

We’re looking for a bilingual Product Manager (Japanese bilingual)  to lead the development for one of our tools in the Trust & Safety division. This platform powers how our teams handle user reports, escalations, and moderation—critical to keeping our marketplace safe and trustworthy.

What You’ll Do

Own the vision, roadmap, and delivery for the Tool.

Partner with Engineering, Design, CS, TnS and Related teams to build scalable internal tools.
Translate operational needs into clear product requirements and user stories.
Define KPIs, run experiments, and use data to guide decisions.
Ensure features support risk detection, abuse prevention, and regulatory compliance.
Bridge communication between Japan-based teams and global stakeholders.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

Native/near-native Japanese + business-level English. Preferred N2/N3 / Level 2/ Level 3 of Japanese Proficiency
7+ years of Product Management or related experience.
Strong track record with internal tools, platforms, or workflow systems.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Data-driven mindset and ability to define measurable outcomes.

Bonus: 

• Experience in Trust & Safety, Risk, or Compliance; e-commerce/marketplace background; familiarity with CS/CRM tools
• Deep domain knowledge in AML, fraud prevention, and Trust & Safety areas
• Experience working as product manager in software development
• Data extraction and aggregation skills using SQL

• Required experience and skills
• At least Business-level Japanese proficiency, Preferred N2/N3 / Level 2/ Level 3 of Japanese Proficiency
