What’s the role?

We’re looking for a Director to join the Customer Insights & Analytics (CI&A) team within the Financial Institutions and Government (FIG) industry group in Westpac’s Corporate and Institutional Bank (CIB). This team provides specialist counterparty and industry research, strategic insights, and supports business growth across FI, NBFI and government sectors.

In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of FI and NBFIs, including leading the credit assessment process for new customers and transactions and the ongoing monitoring and management of the existing customer portfolio.

You’ll review, write and present credit submissions, structure deals, monitor portfolio hygiene, and provide market insights to internal and external stakeholders. You’ll also lead a team of analysts, coaching and guiding their development while collaborating with teams across credit, legal, product, and compliance.

This is a full time Sydney-based leadership role with high visibility across the bank.  

What do I need?

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Deep understanding of financial institutions and non-bank financial institutions, with extensive expertise in credit assessment and transaction structuring. Expertise in the banks, finance companies and fund finance sectors in particular would be highly regarded.
  • Strong customer and stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to manage complex relationships 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity and impact 
  • Proven ability to lead and coach teams, fostering professional development and collaboration 
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities 
  • Relevant qualifications in finance, business, economics, or a related analytical discipline
