About the Role

Are you passionate about driving project success through precision, innovation, and collaboration? At John Holland, we’re looking for a dynamic Project Controls Analyst to join our Corporate Project Controls Melbourne-based team and play a pivotal role in delivering some of Australia’s most exciting infrastructure and construction projects.

Reporting to the Group Manager, Project Performance & Analysis, you’ll be responsible for supporting the corporate Project Controls team by providing effective Project Controls advice and guidance across all our projects in the functions. This may involve spending short time periods embedded in a project. From Earned Value Management (EVM) to Risk Management and Planning, you’ll help ensure our projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards. You’ll work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and industry leaders, providing insights, guidance, and training to drive continuous improvement and innovation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the setup and maintenance of Project Controls systems and processes, including Earned Value Management (EVM) and Risk Management systems.
  • Assist projects in establishing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) to enable effective Project Controls.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders – including Project Managers, Planners, Commercial Managers, and Engineers – to gather and analyse Cost, Time, and Scope data.
  • Review and ensure the quality of Project Controls data to identify trends and develop strategies for effective project management.
  • Assist in preparing Project Controls and EVM reports during month-end reporting cycles.
  • Analyse business-wide EVM and Risk data to uncover insights and inform continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Deliver training and guidance to project teams, empowering them to adopt best practices in Project Controls.
  • Promote a culture of excellence and innovation in Project Controls across all projects.

What we're looking for:

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Site/Project Engineering, Cost Control, or similar roles within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Project Controls tools and Microsoft Excel.
  • A strong understanding of Project Management principles, including Work Breakdown Structures, Cost, Time, and Scope elements.
  • Knowledge of Financial Management principles, including Budgets, Actual Costs, Commitments, and Forecasting.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and time management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
