DEPARTMENT: Bakery Department


REPORTS TO: Store Manager /Assistant Manager


OBJECTIVE: The Bakery Manager is responsible for the overall operation & results of the Bakery Department. This responsibility includes implementation of all company policies, budgets and operating procedures within his/her sphere of authority.


BASIC SCOPE: Your department is a creative, exciting and profitable extension of the total store. Your talents, abilities and expertise will create an atmosphere of excitement and customer confidence.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Job Duties:
1. Exhibit and develop maximum customer and vendor relations through a friendly and courteous behavior.
2. Promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication.
3. Maintain good working relationships with other department managers with objective of improved sales storewide.
4. At all times remember that our success will be dependent upon our ability to work together.
5. Plan, organize, direct and control the activities of the Bakery Department.
6. Know and have the ability to cost out all material to determine proper retails.
7. Know and have the ability to do a master production sheet.
8. Aid in the development and growth of all department personnel by insuring regular implementation of company training, evaluation, and counseling procedures.
9. Possess sufficient knowledge and ability to teach others all fundamentals of bakery production. This will include mixing, scaling, proofing, baking, frying and finishing.
10. Plan aggressive merchandising programs for increased sales. Assist management with cross merchandising ideas with other departments.
11. Maintain effective control of department labor and inventory in line with established budgets and guidelines.
12. Maintain effective department security in compliance with company policy and directives.
13. Responsible for gross profit, merchandising, preparing and displaying product within the set standards and guidelines.
14. Maintain an awareness of competitive activity within the store marketing areas at all times as it relates to the Bakery Department. Also, maintain an awareness and concern for the company's interest and investment at all times through the regular practice of sound, honest judgment.
15. Associate performance evaluations must be done effectively and on a timely basis.
16. With the Store Manager, develop and coordinate associate work schedules within the department to insure maximum customer service, productivity and efficiency.
17. Instructor assist in the receiving, storing, pricing and merchandising of all bakery products.
18. Maintain a high level of coordination and communication with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of products and service throughout the store and within the bakery operation.
19. Maintain adequate and appropriate department records at all times.
20. Must be familiar with store layout, location of safety and emergency equipment.
21. Comply with all company policies, programs and directives as specified in associate handbook.
22. Comply with all company safety and accident prevention policies, reporting all accidents to the assistant or Store Manager.
23. In accordance with company policy, maintain associates appearance and dress code, including uniform and identification. Instill in associates the importance of cleanliness, both in themselves and of equipment and surroundings.
24. Attend store and company meetings. Provide professional example for other store associates to follow.
25. Participate in weekly Department Managers Meetings offering input.

Housekeeping/Maintenance:
1. Maintain proper housekeeping and maintenance of assigned areas to maintain clean and sanitary conditions.
2. Maintain all department equipment in good working order and recommend repair of equipment when deemed necessary
