Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) serves as a primary care provider for patients of all ages at Medical Associates Plus (MAP). This role includes the provision of both scheduled and episodic/walk-in care. The NP functions as a healthcare provider, educator, consultant, researcher, and clinical leader. Services are delivered under the supervision and in collaboration with the Medical Director, following all applicable federal and state regulations and within the protocols and standards of MAP.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Compliance and Conduct
- Consistently upholds MAP’s mission and values, providing patient-centered care with professionalism and respect.
- Works cooperatively as part of the interdisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
- Maintains full compliance with MAP policies and procedures, including standards set by regulatory bodies (e.g., OSHA, Joint Commission, Medicare, HIPAA).
- Adheres to and promotes MAP’s Code of Conduct, policies on ethical behavior, and confidentiality practices.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive primary care services for patients across the lifespan (pediatrics to geriatrics).
- Conducts assessments, formulates diagnoses, and develops treatment plans in accordance with evidence-based guidelines.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, etc.) to support clinical decision-making.
- Delivers health education to patients and families, ensuring understanding of medical conditions, medications, and follow-up care.
- Ensures cultural sensitivity in all interactions and communicates at the appropriate level of patient understanding.
- Makes referrals and seeks consultations for cases that exceed scope of practice or clinical expertise.
- Participates in on-call rotations and provides emergency care, when necessary, as defined by MAP’s Scope of Practice.
Leadership and Team Support
- Assumes responsibility for clinical operations during assigned shifts and in the absence of the Chief Medical Officer.
- Supports and models a positive work environment and customer service excellence.
- Participate in staff training, education, and mentoring.
- Collaborate with team members to improve care coordination, reduce unnecessary hospitalizations, and enhance patient compliance and wellness.
- Serves as a liaison to external providers and community services to maintain continuity of care.
Quality and Performance Improvement
- Actively engages in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Participates in periodic chart reviews, peer reviews, and internal quality audits.
- Maintains compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) standards for lab-related procedures and documentation.
- Assists in annual updates of clinical protocols and contributes to maintaining the policy and procedure manual.
Administrative and Data Management
- Documents all patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Ensures patient data is maintained securely and confidentially.
- Uses clinic resources effectively and efficiently to support sustainable care delivery.
- Supports MAP’s data collection and reporting efforts, assisting with database management when appropriate.
Other Duties
- Participates in organizational initiatives and committee meetings as assigned.
- May provide services at multiple MAP locations as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties within the scope of licensure as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education and Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice.
- National certification in a primary care specialty (e.g., FNP) required.
- BLS/CPR certification required; ACLS preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
- Experience in community health, family practice, or urgent care is strongly desired.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to educate and engage patients in their care.

- Ability to manage stressful situations, resolve conflict, and prioritize multiple tasks.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform clinical duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Frequent walking, standing, and use of hands; occasional sitting, reaching, kneeling, or bending.
- Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Working Conditions
- Primary work location is an outpatient clinic setting with standard lighting, climate control, and moderate noise.
- May be exposed to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and bodily fluids.
- Occasional extended hours or weekend shifts may be required.
