High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Educational Technology Specialist. The Educational Technology Specialist position is responsible for implementing, evaluating, and facilitating educational technology services and resources that enhances teaching and learning experience and performance efficiency. This position works independently and collaboratively as a resource for best practice utilization, integration, design principles, personized consultation, emerging technologies, learning support, tutorial materials, and problem-solving.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in educational technology, information technology, instructional technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred.

Experience and Training

  • Experience providing consultation and services in use of educational technology
  • Extensive knowledge in learning management system (Blackboard preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge in best practices in educational technology
  • Extensive knowledge in training experience
  • Experience developing multimedia components
  • Experience developing online/virtual learning experiences

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude and solutions-oriented thinking.
  • Excellent in independent project and collaborative teamwork
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Extensive knowledge in Mac and Windows systems, and mobile platform
  • Knowledge in basic HTML
  • Knowledge in basic graphic design and video/audio edit

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

Consultancy

  • Provides administrative and technical support for educational technology
  • Establishes working partnerships with faculty, staff, and students to understand their needs and provide customized support that optimizes their performance and efficiency.
  • Develops and facilitates workshops and development opportunities based on need assessment
  • Designs and manages technology resources and tutorials
  • Shares expertise and best practices to promote enhanced technology integration
  • Collaborates with Instructional Designer and contribute to related projects
  • Demonstrates commitment to providing excellent consultation services
  • Support to optimize teaching and learning experiences in the classroom and in virtual environments.

Planning and Organizing

  • Develops and implements assigned projects with critical thinking and creativity
  • Utilizes project management and time management to ensure performance efficiency
  • Utilizes need assessment, project planning, and evaluation to identify needs and ensure continuous improvement
  • Documents project process and keep them updated in accordance with defined standards
  • Coordinates workshops and programs planning, delivery, registration and evaluation
  • Coordinates learning tutorials, instructions, and promotional materials for better support
  • Works with campus units to ensure success in providing quality service and consultation

Communication and Information Processing and Problem Solving 

  • Collects relevant data and interpret meaning and importance of information.
  • Prioritizes allocation of time and resources in accordance with defined priorities
  • Actively look to eliminate repetitive manual processes.
  • Be engaged and participate in discussions, projects and team meetings
  • Identify issues and develop appropriate resolution promptly
  • Proactively detect opportunities and solutions for service improvement and development
  • Communicate with IT staff pertaining to any technology related issues and help with resolution
