Job Description Summary

This position involves operating and maintaining various wastewater treatment systems, including analysis laboratories, collection systems, pre-treatment systems, and full treatment systems. Key activities include collecting samples for analysis in accordance with EPA, state, and health department regulations, performing chemical analyses both in and out of a laboratory setting, making system adjustments based on chemical analysis results, ensuring regulatory compliance through educated decision-making, performing mathematical calculations using basic algebra, completing computerized reports and monthly reports as required by permits, state authority, EPA, or corporate management. The role also requires utilizing basic organizational, mechanical, and electrical wiring skills, communicating operational status to upper management, maintaining operations logs, performing equipment maintenance, operating spotter trucks and forklifts, and performing grounds keeping, painting, and general housekeeping duties as needed.

Requirements

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent
• Experience: 1+ years of wastewater experience preferred
• Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of Word and Excel
• Communication Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical
• Certification:
  • Complete a storm water training program within thirty days
  • Complete "Industrial Waste Treatment, Volume I & II" courses within twelve months
  • Obtain the lowest grade certification program within twelve months or as per state regulations
• Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license
  • Obtain higher levels of certification and training up to Level A at the facility
  • Meet and maintain minimum qualification levels as required by state regulations
• Physical Requirements:
  • Lift heavy objects (50-75 pounds)
  • Climb/descend stairs or ladders
  • Work in unsanitary conditions and with hazardous chemicals
• Supervisory: None
• Travel: 1 to 2 trips per year
