Job Description

Looking for an on-campus job within the Law School? The Admissions Office is looking for qualified applicants to assist with material preparation, administrative tasks, and act as front-line Admissions support.

Law Admissions Assistants must have excellent phone and email etiquette, the ability to interact with all levels of faculty, staff, students and members of the community, and a willingness to learn and explore new skills. Students in this role are expected to respect confidentiality requirements in addition to completing University FERPA/confidentiality training.

On the job training is provided. Applicants should be interested in engaging with prospective law school students and be able to discuss the Richmond Law community and their experience as a current student in addition to being a quick learner and having excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The pay range for this position starts at $12.77 an hour. Applicants must be an enrolled Richmond Law student.

Available hours vary Monday to Friday, 8:30AM-5PM. Successful applicants will be assigned a recurring weekly schedule with a minimum of 5 hours, but not more than 10 hours per week.  

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Assist in preparing materials for distribution- recruiting materials, admission packets, housing information packets, and other communications.

  • Assist with Admissions event preparation, including preparation of print materials, event spaces, and other logistic needs

  • Provide front-line response for Admissions Office main phone line, email inquiries, and walk-in visitors. Will include unsupervised front desk staffing during Admissions Office professional staff meetings, etc.

  • Act as a back-up tour guide for drop-in visitors to the law school, as requested by Admissions Office staff, on an as-needed basis.

  • Assist with on-campus errands and projects

  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and apply them to workplace projects

  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff, faculty, students, and community

  • Superior administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently or without supervision

  • Committed to a recurring weekly schedule with a minimum of 5, but no more than 10 hours per week in the Admissions Office to effectively complete training and expected duties. Must be able to maintain reliable attendance of all scheduled shifts

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion working with sensitive and private information

  • Keen attention to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in a customer service setting or supporting an office in higher education, specifically in Admissions, a plus

  • Availability to continue working over a summer period
