We are hiring a Director of Analytics to lead the design and development of enterprise-level reporting solutions that enable data-based decision-making across the organization. This role is central to building scalable, self-service capabilities and driving data storytelling that empowers business leaders with meaningful insights.

This individual will oversee the development of intuitive, well-governed dashboards and reports, establish design frameworks that support consistency and clarity, and champion a culture of self-service and data literacy across the company. This role will lead a team of analysts and will collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure our reporting framework supports evolving business needs, market dynamics, and strategic goals.

Essential functions

  • Strategic leadership
    • Develop and execute a forward-thinking analytics strategy aligned with Wellabe’s strategic business goals.
    • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities that inform long-term business strategy.
    • Establish and enforce design frameworks based on UX best practices and storytelling principles.
    • Partner with executive leadership to embed data-driven thinking into strategic decision making.
  • Team & Project Management
    • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of analytics professionals.
    • Prioritize and manage the analytics project portfolio across business units.
    • Foster a culture of curiosity, continuous learning, and strategic experimentation.
  • Analytics Delivery
    • Lead the design and delivery of high-quality dashboards, scorecards, and business performance reports across key insurance domains (e.g. distribution, actuarial, operations, marketing).
    • Translate business problems into reporting solutions that provide clear insights and actionable recommendations.
    • Proactively identify reporting gaps or inefficiencies and implement improvements to enhance data-driven decision-making.
  • Self-Service Analytics & Enablement
    • Build and manage a self-service analytics environment, empowering business users to access and explore data independently.
    • Collaborate with business partners to identify self-service use cases and train users on tools and best practices.
    • Drive adoption and ensure proper governance of self-service assets to maintain data integrity and reduce reporting bottlenecks.
  • Governance & Consistency
    • Define and enforce reporting standards, KPIs, and data definitions to ensure consistency and accuracy across the organization.
    • Work closely with Data Governance and Data Engineering teams to ensure integrity and availability of data sources.
  • Forward-Looking Insight
    • Anticipate future reporting needs based on evolving business strategy, regulatory changes, or market trends.
    • Design executive-level reporting packages that inform quarterly reviews, board presentations, and strategic planning sessions.
    • Use trend analysis and comparative reporting to highlight opportunities, risks, and areas for operational improvement.

Success Profile

  • Strong understanding of insurance KPIs, processes, and reporting frameworks.
  • Proficiency with BI tools (e.g Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) and strong SQL/reporting database knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including experience working with executive leadership.
  • Highly organized, with a sharp eye for detail and a proactive, strategic mindset.
  • In depth knowledge of modern data engineering and data architecture technologies and principles required.
  • Understanding of data governance principles and best practices, ability to apply a practical approach to driving data governance maturity
  • Proven ability to drive broad enterprise alignment and the successful implementation of impactful technology solutions
  • Essential expertise in developing and implementing data warehouses, data lakes, and lake houses with experience of the latest platforms for efficient high-scale data hosting and analytics
  • Passionate advocate for leveraging data solutions and practices to unlock business value
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical partners
  • Ability to influence and work across organization boundaries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Data Science, Economics, or related field.
  • Combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in business reporting, data analysis, analytics engineering or related field required.
  • Previous experience within the insurance or financial services industry required.
  • 5+ years of leadership and team management experience required.
  • Extensive data modeling experience with operational and analytical data stores.
