JOB SUMMARY:
The 2nd shift Supervisor works with the shop department supervisors, and the Plant Manager to determine the schedule of work on the shop floor for all departments on 2nd shift. The 2nd Shift Supervisor hands out individual work orders to the personnel working second shift, working with the Lead and the QC persons to ensure the work order is complete and to the level of quality that is required. The 2nd Shift Supervisor is responsible for answering questions and solving problems that may arise on 2nd shift, whether production or facilities based. The 2nd Shift Supervisor is responsible for performed maintenance that is determined by the Plant Manager and the maintenance team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensuring all safety policies and procedures are followed and enforced on 2nd shift.
• Obeying all company, OSHA, and other state and federal agencies’ safety regulations.
• Completing all duties assigned by Plant Manager, while making the most efficient use of time, materials, and equipment.
• Tracking/monitoring department key performance indicators and leading continuous improvement efforts for their department
• Doing routine maintenance on machines and tools as guided by the performed maintenance schedule.
• Maintaining or reducing estimated labor/material costs for each project.
• Staging and organizing WIP. Keeping materials labelled and organized for maximum efficiency.
• Reading and comprehending shop drawings and cutbills.
• Ensuring appropriate cleaning/maintenance procedures are defined, establish, and followed in their department
• Working individually with little supervision.
• Working as a team and communicating effectively with:
o Plant Manager
o Rough Mill Supervisor
o Fabrication Supervisor
o All other plant employees
• Leadership Skills: team motivation, conflict resolution, problem solving, and team communication.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or GED. Some additional training at technical school is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 - 10 years previous experience in a millwork shop, carpentry shop, and/or working knowledge of wood finishing.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
• Must pass pre-employment physical / musculoskeletal exam
• Must pass drug screening
• Must pass an audiogram test
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a daily basis

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position operates in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to see and differentiate color and to focus.
