Major League Baseball is seeking an experienced Investigator to join our Department of Investigations. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting and supporting confidential, highly sensitive DOI investigations.
Responsibilities
- Investigate allegations related to performance-enhancing substances, domestic violence, sexual assault, gambling, off-field misconduct, and other violations of baseball rules and policies
- Conduct interviews throughout the United States, as well as internationally, including confidential and sensitive witness interviews
- Draft interview summaries and other documentation related to investigations
- Develop investigation strategy and ensure timely execution of investigative steps
- Liaise with local law enforcement entities about ongoing investigations
- Obtain information, including government records, in accordance with local laws
- Develop relationships with industry contacts, including Club and MLB staff in related departments, such as Security, Office Operations, and Baseball Operations
- Review, translate, and analyze documents, text messages, and emails
- Work with analysts to gather and analyze publicly available information, including government records, social media, and news reports
- Assist Clubs with certain internal investigations as directed
Qualifications & Skills
- Unwavering integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Full fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written) required
- 10+ years of prior law enforcement or similar government experience required, with at least five years of an investigations focus
- This position requires in-office attendance five days per week in MLB’s New York office, outside of field work and travel
- Travel approximately 30% of the time, at times on short notice
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage effectively with sensitive victims, executives, law enforcement, and individuals with no obligation to cooperate with the investigation
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with Word
- Ability to manage deliverables with time-sensitive deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and organization
Salary Range: $150,000 - $170,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision.
