The Sr. Analyst, Whole Loan Valuations is responsible for the valuation of whole loans out for bid and within the Banking and Capital Markets Investment Management  group. This role plays a critical part in supporting the bank’s capital optimization and secondary market activities by delivering accurate and timely valuations across multiple asset classes.  Partnering cross-functionally with Enterprise Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, and Technology teams, the Sr. Analyst will maintain and enhance valuation models, support transaction pricing and providing insights into loan portfolio performance and market trends.  This position reports directly to the SVP, Investment Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform the valuation process for the bank’s whole loan and securities portfolio within the Investment Management group.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining valuation models and methodologies in alignment with market standard practices and regulatory guidance.
  • Contribute to pricing and structuring of whole loan transactions through analysis, due diligence and documentation review.
  • Lead assumption, scenario analysis, stress testing, and valuation sensitivity; synthesize findings to develop and present reports and presentations to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Risk Management and Finance to ensure alignment and consistency in valuation inputs, assumptions, and reporting standards.
  • Monitor market trends, collateral performance, and macroeconomic indicators to inform and input into valuation assumptions and strategic positioning.
  • Manage relationships with third-party valuation providers to ensure accuracy, consistency, and transparency of external pricing data.
  • Prepare and communicate valuation insights to internal stakeholders, including Executive and Risk Committees.
  • Support regulatory and audit engagements by providing documentation and rationale for valuation methodologies and governance.
  • Identify and drive automation and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and control within valuation workflows.
  • Exercise sound judgment in evaluating risk business decisions, with attention to compliance, operational integrity, and reputational impact.
  • Uphold the firm’s standards of integrity and client trust by adhering to applicable laws, policies, and ethical guidelines; escalate control issues as appropriate.
  • Appropriately identifies and assesses risk when business decisions are made, including but not limited to compliance and operational risks.
  • Demonstrates consideration for Cenlar’s reputation as well as our clients, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues.

     

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative discipline is required. A Master’s degree or CFA designation is preferred due to the advanced nature of the valuation methodologies used.
  • 3+ years’ experience in whole loan valuation, structured finance, or capital markets.
  • Prior experience in a wholesale or investment banking environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard valuation platforms such as Intex, Bloomberg, and Yield Book for model development and data analysis.
  • Solid understanding of loan-level cash flow modeling, credit risk, and market pricing dynamics.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel; experience with Python, SQL, or R is a plus
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in evaluating risk and determining valuation assumptions
  • Clear and effective communicator, able to explain complex concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Strong reasoning skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a hands-on mindset.
