Summary
The position is a key member of the accounting department and supports the Company's accounting for certain subsidiaries. The individual will be critical in helping the Company execute the month-end closing process and support the audit of the financial statements. The position reports to the Director, Assistant Controller.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reconcile and balance general ledger accounts.
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Assist with annual audit.
- Lead the accounting function for certain subsidiaries of the Company
- Analyze monthly balance sheet and income statements for certain subsidiaries; prepare correcting entries to ensure accurate reporting.
- Provide backup support to other members of the General Accounting team as needed.
- Ad-Hoc reporting and analysis with other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting is required; Master's degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in accounting with general ledger experience required.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel with SQL preferred.
Skills
- Must have a desire to learn about the company and the Vehicle Service Contract industry along with the ability to learn various business functions, operations, objectives, and strategies.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Must be able to work and manipulate substantial amounts of data.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be highly organized.
- Need the ability to maintain/ organize priorities, schedules, and deadlines.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft products with high proficiency in Excel.
- SQL experience preferred.
- Ability to get up to speed quickly on new concepts and opportunities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with leaders and subject matter experts across various business units and functional areas.
- Must be self-motivated and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must possess a process improvement mindset with willingness to challenge current processes.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to type and look at a computer screen for extended periods of the day. The employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
