Barricades Support Technician
The starting pay rate for this job is $27.51 followed by an increase to $28.89 upon successful completion of the probation period (typically, six months).
As a Barricades Support Technician, you will be responsible for providing barricade support for our utilities' crews, city departments, fire, and police departments. You will also be responsible for designing traffic control device installations and modifications; anticipating and developing countermeasures to reduce crashes; and preparing construction traffic control plans, including detour plans for pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
What Else Will You be Doing?
- Managing/Operating barricade equipment while utilizing accompanying barricade principles
- Reading and interpreting maps and traffic control plans
- Using various hand and power tools
- Driving vehicles and trucks to transport materials and equipment to and from job sites
- Lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading traffic control items, including signs, barricades, pavement marking materials, etc.
Who You Are
- Demonstrated experience in traffic control/barricading
- Possession of a Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Certification and/or Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) Certification accredited through CCA or ATTSA is highly valued, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire
- Obtainment of a TCT Certification requires a minimum of 2,000 hours of on-the-job training; a TCS Certification requires 4,000 hours of on-the-job training
- Ability to perform work without direct supervision, possession of strong verbal communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively to unexpected events
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions of this job consist of the following:
- Exerts 20-50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
- Positions in this class typically require exposure in all weather conditions.
