Position Overview

The Senior Rater is responsible for quoting, issuing new business, and processing routine and complex rating transactions, change requests, and endorsements.  This position supports the Commercial Lines Underwriting department in the achievement of established corporate profit and growth goals.

Essential Job Functions

  • Processes transactions on all Commercial Lines policies including quotations, new business issuance, policy changes, policy renewals, and premium audits
  • Performs data input, rating, coding, verification, and forms attachment for all policies
  • Works directly with underwriting and audit staff on ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all transactions in order to maximize product quality delivered to our customers
  • Trains staff to process all rating transactions and functions
  • Processes complex and/or specialty handled rating transactions
  • Completes required data reporting to bureaus and assures reported data is accurate
  • Performs support functions for the underwriting teams
  • Assist agents with Guidewire navigation
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

Education & Experience

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Typically requires 3+ years of industry experience

Preferred or Specialized

  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance or business-related field

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Perform routine office work using basic clerical skills
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Learn coverage forms and underwriting/rating policies and procedures and apply these concepts to the job

Demonstrated skill in:

  • Data entry with minimal errors
  • Completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail

Demonstrated knowledge of:

  •  Microsoft Office

  Pay Range: 

  •    $18.00  – $22.00  per hour
    • This range is based on the expected level of experience and skills for this position. Final compensation will depend on individual
