The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Landscape Gardener in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department!
The current vacancy is in the Urban Forestry Unit and will staff the tree planting and young tree care team. The City of Berkeley plants, waters, and establishes up to 1,000 trees each year. In addition, this recruitment will create an eligibility list that may also be used to staff the Landscape Maintenance Unit.

Position Duties
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is
Equivalent to graduation from high school and two (2) years experience in landscape maintenance work, similar to that described in the job classification. Possession of an AA degree in horticulture or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; must be willing to work out of doors in all weather conditions.

Performance Exam: October 14 and possibly 15, 2025
