Eurofins Environment Testing Australia is an Environmental testing network of fully accredited laboratories. With a staff of over 200 our laboratories are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and with Client Service Offices located in Adelaide, Darwin, Newcastle and Wollongong. We also operate field sampling services out of Melbourne and Sydney. We specialise in all areas of Environmental analysis, including Contaminated Soil, Sludge, Sediments, Leachate, Soil Vapour, Trade Waste Effluents, Sewage Effluents, Stack Emissions, Work Place Air, Ambient Air, Dust, Drinking Water, Surface Water run off, River & Stream Monitoring, Seawater, and Groundwater.
Job Description:Full-time position available based at the Hobart, TAS site.
Morning shift: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.
An extra 1.5% superannuation is paid on top of the standard national super rate.
Graduates and entry-level applicants are welcome to apply—laboratory experience is preferred but not essential.
Reporting to the State Manager, this role is ideally full-time; however, for the right candidate we are open to part-time arrangements with some flexibility in working hours. The Laboratory Technician will primarily be responsible for:
Receive and log samples for analysis.
Assist with microbiological analysis, including calculations and interpretation of results under supervision.
Perform quality control tasks and ensure all procedures meet ISO 17025 and company standards.
Coordinate consumables dispatch, sample dispatch, stocktake and warehouse management.
Maintain laboratory and warehouse cleanliness and support laboratory projects.
Uphold Eurofins’ Code of Ethics, Quality Systems, and safety policies.
This role provides the chance to work with a leading global testing organisation, gaining exposure to both laboratory and operational functions while supporting national operations.
Work well autonomously while maintaining high attention to detail and quality standards.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
A Laboratory Technician qualification with environmental and/or microbiology experience (or equivalent experience in a laboratory environment).
Previous experience working in a laboratory is preferred.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task.
Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle client and time pressures.
A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work safely and reliably as part of a team.
Travel: A current driver’s licence is required; occasional local land-based travel will be required.
