YOUR PURPOSE

As a key member of the Accounting team, you will ensure the accurate processing and recording of general ledger transactions, prepare account reconciliations, and administer the Credit Union’s expense reimbursement processes. This role involves preparing a variety of journal entries and performing essential support functions that uphold the integrity of the Credit Union’s financial records. You will work independently within established regulations, accounting procedures, and internal policies. Collaboration is central to this role- working closely with colleagues in Accounting and other internal and external partners to meet deadlines and support organizational goals.


YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Administering the employee expense reimbursement process in compliance with company policies and guidelines, including corporate credit card expense reports.
  • Reviewing, verifying, and categorizing expense submissions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicating with employees regarding discrepancies and providing guidance on reimbursement procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of employee reimbursements and corporate credit card expenses.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to streamline the reimbursement workflow.
  • Verifying and posting business transactions to the general ledger and reconciling general ledger accounts in support of daily Credit Union operations.
  • Balancing daily operational activity, including ACH, share drafts, loan payments, and cash letter postings.
  • Supporting the end-to-end processing of outgoing wire transfers for both member and Credit Union transactions.
  • Preparing daily bank account reconciliations.
  • Preparing moderately complex spreadsheets, charts, and graphs for reporting and problem-solving purposes.
  • Preparing monthly accruals and closing entries related to Credit Union operations.
  • Providing backup support for other Accounting Specialist functions, including ATM and credit card processing, settlements, and other critical tasks as needed.
  • Participating in staff meetings and supporting departmental projects.
  • Performing other duties as assigned in response to evolving departmental needs.

Our pay values are reflected in our compensation philosophy which rewards individual performance and the potential to contribute to our teams’ overall success long-term.


The full pay range for this position across all the states in which we hire is $23.42-$32.79. The figures shown represent the minimum and maximum of the range for this role. Individual offers are made dependent upon a candidate’s experience, education, and skill level.

Requirements

Education

High school diploma or GED required. At least one year of post-secondary education in accounting or finance is required. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.


Experience

Minimum of two years of experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • General ledger accounting (balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Accounts payable
  • Balancing and reconciling accounts
  • Experience with expense management software is a plus. 

Credit Union or other financial institution accounting experience is preferred

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all accounting tasks
  • Proficient in managing general ledger accounts, including posting, balancing, and reconciling
  • Skilled in preparing and analyzing moderately complex spreadsheets, charts, and graphs
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Technologically savvy and able to learn and operate software specific to the Credit Union’s accounting and member systems

ABLE TO

To perform the essential functions of this position an employee must be able to meet the following work place demands: ability to converse with others, detect sound, identify and detect objects, count, read, write, operate a computer, handle and feel objects, reach with hands/arms and be stationary and/or stand and/or move for long periods of time. Occasionally an employee will lift/pull/push and carry up to 25 to 50 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and be able to maintain balance doing these activities. Position requires sound reasoning, good judgement and ability to apply knowledge toward work activities. The noise level is moderate and typical of a normal office environment.
