GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The AR Accountant duties include ensuring accuracy and efficiency of operations, processing and monitoring incoming payments, and securing revenue by verifying and posting receipts.
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:
All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:
- Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
- Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description
- Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record
- Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays
DUTIES:
1. Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
2. Maintain filing and recordkeeping systems that are suitable for auditing.
3. Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivables’ data.
4. Assist with the annual audits and reviews on an as needed basis.
5. Verify discrepancies’ by researching and resolving clients’ billing/payment issues.
6. Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with employees, vendors, visitors, and other customers.
7. Assist financial staff with routine duties on an as needed basis.
8. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.
9. Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.
10. Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
11. Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.
12. May be required to satisfactorily complete an exam or other testing requirement(s) to determine skill proficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. The applicant must be about to meet on of the following set qualifications:
A. An Associate degree in accounting or closely related field.
B. A High School Diploma with 2 years or practical experience that must have included performing the functions listed in “Duties”.
2. Applicant must possess data processing skills and knowledge of office procedures.
3. An understanding of approved bookkeeping practices, fair credit practices and collections regulations.
4. Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
5. Must submit to a Criminal Investigation Background Check.
6. Must obtain and maintain coverage under the employer’s Employee Dishonesty policy.
7. Confidentiality of all information is required; an infraction of this requirement will result in immediate dismissal.
8. Must be willing to attend all applicable training.
9. Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening. Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
10. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.
11. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.
12. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.
13. Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
1. This position requires a lot of sitting with occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
2. Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working in close proximity to others and in an enclosed area.
4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required.
