BOARD OF SUPERVISORS - DISTRICT 2


The Office of the Board of Supervisors is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Board Member Assistant. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Supervisor’s vision by offering strategic perspectives on social media outreach, conducting policy analysis, performing research, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the office. The ideal candidate will excel in writing, thrive under pressure, and consistently meet critical deadlines.


This full-time position reports to District 2's designated Chief of Staff whose office is located in downtown Fresno.

Eligible candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Writing and Communication: Draft speeches, press releases, newsletters, briefing materials, talking points, and other communications with precision and professionalism.
  • Constituent Services: Collaborate with County staff to address constituent requests and concerns from district residents.
  • Policy Analysis: Review and analyze legislative and policy proposals, preparing summaries and recommendations for the Chief of Staff and the Supervisor.
  • Research: Conduct thorough research on issues affecting the district and provide comprehensive reports to support informed decision-making.
  • Event Support: Assist in planning and coordinating public events, town halls, and community engagement activities.
  • Administrative Support: Handle scheduling, correspondence, and record-keeping to ensure seamless office operations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Chief of Staff and other team members to achieve office goals and meet critical deadlines.
  • Social Media Strategy: Provide input on social media outreach. Collaborate on creating engaging content and offer guidance on updates across multiple platforms to ensure messaging aligns with the office’s priorities and community engagement goals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media management tools.
  • Knowledge of local government operations and legislative processes is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience in providing strategic input on social media outreach, policy analysis, or related areas.
