Purpose of position:  To ensure the facility and machinery is running properly by repairing or coordinating the repair and/or building material and equipment as necessary. 

 

 

    Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).   

  • Responds and inspects maintenance, electrical and building issues in a timely manner and determines cost effective solution.  
  • Schedules all routine and special maintenance on building and grounds and oversees the work.
  • Maintains a preventive maintenance schedule on the A/C and Heating system; Air supply and the emergency power system.
  • Conducts safety walks monthly, and documents findings.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations including hazardous communications and OSHA reporting.
  • Assists all shops in their needs to help facilitate their work.
  • Identifies hazardous material, their proper use, storage and disposal.
  • Negotiates bids with contractors.
  • Draws up plans for facility as needed. 
  • Completes Excel Spreadsheets of periodic maintenance schedule on equipment; first aid cabinets; chemical cabinets and safety walks.
  • Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner
  • Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy
  • Works overtime as needed
  • Observes and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g. Safety-glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.)
  • Other duties as required.

 

Skills, knowledge and abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).

  • Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among co-workers and supervisors. 
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision and to take initiative.
  • Must be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write and communicate in English. 
  • Must have basic computer skills to run specific company software and Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; and compute percentages. 
  • Must be able to use a variety of hand and power tools effectively. 
  • Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all PPE.
  • Must have knowledge of precision measuring tools/equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally.
  • Must be able to see clearly with or without corrective lenses.
  • Must be able to hear running machinery.
  • Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively.
  • Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination.
  • Must regularly be able to reach overhead.
  • Must regularly be able to squat, bend, twist and stand.
  • Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally.
  • Ability to provide verification of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions. 

 

 

Marginal Functions: (Duties that are likely to be assigned to this person, unless he/she proves unable to perform them after receiving training and/or accommodations that the company judges appropriate).

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years or older and a High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ maintenance and electrical experience required. 
  • Prior supervisory experience a plus. 
  • HVAC experience is a plus. 
  • Must pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.     

 

Work conditions:

 

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise is generally loud.
