Job Overview

As an IP Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the company’s intellectual property (IP) strategy, including invention mining, patent drafting assistance, prior art search, and portfolio management. You will work closely with R&D, legal counsel, and external patent attorneys to ensure the company’s innovations are effectively protected and aligned with business objectives.

This position reports to the General Counsel and will be located in Baden, Switzerland.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with R&D teams to identify patentable inventions and facilitate invention disclosures.
  • Conduct prior art searches and provide patentability and freedom-to-operate analysis.
  • Assist with internal and external patent drafting and prosecution processes.
  • Maintain IP databases and generate regular reports on portfolio status.
  • Monitor competitor patents and industry IP trends.
  • Support IP litigation, licensing, and enforcement activities when needed.
  • Provide training to engineers on IP awareness and best practices.
  • Supporting R&D Team in the U.S. and China

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Familiarity with patent systems in major jurisdictions (e.g., US, EP, CN).
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Experience with patent search tools.
  • Patent Agent qualification or IP certification is a plus.
  • Fluent in English. Mandarin is a plus.
