As an Assistant Manager – Technical Operations, you will be responsible for a dual leadership role supporting both the daily operations of softgel production and driving technical and process excellence across the organization. This position collaborates closely with cross-functional stakeholders (Quality, R&D, Engineering, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs) to ensure robust manufacturing performance, continuous improvement, product quality, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The role also supports product and process innovation, technical troubleshooting, and contributes to intellectual property (IP) and product lifecycle enhancement initiatives..

TECHNICAL OPERATIONS & PROCESS EXCELLENCE:

• Support execution of manufacturing process improvements across encapsulation, drying, inspection, and cleaning.
• Participate in equipment trials, DOE studies, and trouble-shooting activities in coordination with operators, supervisors, and engineers.
• Assist in the design and execution of Process Qualifications (PQ), equipment qualifications (IQ/OQ), and validation protocols.
• Review formulations, batch records, protocols, and change controls to assess manufacturability and technical feasibility.
• Maintain organized records of project data, outcomes, and recommendations for process capability or product robustness..

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT & INNOVATION:

• Collaborate on and lead Lean initiatives aimed at yield improvement, defect reduction (e.g., leakers, twin caps), and cost savings.
• Develop visual tools and dashboards for OEE, downtime, Right First Time (RFT), and productivity tracking.
• Partner with operations and Continues Improvement to identify root causes of inefficiencies; propose corrective and preventive actions.
• Support efforts to develop and implement proprietary processes or formulation enhancements that contribute to product innovation or patentable IP.
• Identify new technologies, materials, or methods that can optimize softgel throughput, quality, or functionality.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION:

• Work with Quality to support investigations (OOS, CAPA), change control implementation, and audit readiness.
• Partner with R&D and Formulation to scale up and commercialize new softgel products or technologies.
• Interface with Engineering on equipment selection, upgrades, and preventive maintenance strategies.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement to address raw material variability and support vendor technical discussions.
• Coordinate with Regulatory Affairs to ensure proper documentation for changes impacting product quality or compliance.

SUPPORT OF DAILY OPERATIONS

• Provide on-floor technical support during production shifts to resolve in-process challenges and ensure compliance with batch records.
• Assist with planning of pilot and commercial batch runs.
• Help standardize SOPs and JIs, ensuring they reflect current best practices and are effectively trained out to operators and leads.
• Monitor production metrics (yield, schedule attainment, downtime) and escalate trends that require cross-functional intervention.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Life Sciences, or related technical field.

• Minimum 5+ years of leadership experience in softgel, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environments.

• Any combination of experience, education, and training that provides the level of knowledge, skills, and experience needed to successfully perform the job.

This position is currently classified as on-site.

Base Salary Range: $85,500.00 – 104,000.00 per year, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Holidays, Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
