ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER EVENTS TEAM
New York Cares’ Signature Partnerships & Events (SPE) department is the partnerships and event management team of the Programs division. Frequently on the ground, the department executes volunteer events with excellence, ensuring participants have the best possible service experience in every New York Cares project or event.SPEensures that our projects and annual events follow volunteer engagement and programmatic best practices, and that all logistics are effectively managed.
We build strong relationships with corporate and community partners by consistently stewarding those relationships. We share a belief that all New Yorkers can make a meaningful difference on the most pressing issues our communities face.
ABOUT THE SEASONAL WINTER WISHES COORDINATOR
The New York Cares Winter Wishes program has brought cheer and joy to thousands of kids and teens throughout New York City for decades. Each year, New York Cares coordinates the collection and distribution of approximately 10,000 letters written by young people with requests for gifts during the holiday season and sent to volunteers to fulfill those wishes. Over the past several years, the collection and distribution of these requests has been done virtually.
The Seasonal Winter Wishes Coordinator provides critical support to this program, through communication with Community Partner organizations, screening letters, and tracking logistics of letter distribution, among other responsibilities. Reporting to the Director of Signature Partnerships & Events, the Seasonal Winter Wishes Coordinator will work closely with other members of SPE and our other Programs teams to ensure the successful execution of this important program.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the Winter Wishes email inbox and respond to related inquiries
- Communicate with Community Partners to ensure confirm receipt of mass communications, remind them of letter due dates, and confirm receipt of gifts
- Support Director of Signature Partnerships & Events in communicating with wish granters for Corporate Partners, including responding to inquiries and sending out letters
- Support the management of letter screenings, including leading and posting letter screening sessions with volunteers
- Compile reports in the organization’s Salesforce database to track Community Partners, wish granters, and letters and ensure all are accounted for in the letter screening and matching processes

QUALIFICATIONS
- The successful Seasonal Winter Wishes Coordinator will:
- Be proficient in customer service; have the ability and initiative to be responsive to and sensitive to the needs of external stakeholders such as Community Partners, Corporate Partners, and gift recipients
- Be proficient in producing clear, concise, and compelling written and verbal communications
- Have demonstrated proficiency with managing cross-departmental projects related to large programs
- Have demonstrated ability to effectively manage a range of internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Have a fundamental working knowledge of Salesforce or other database reporting (preferred)
- Be passionate about the work of New York Cares and in creating a more equitable New York City
COMPENSATION
The compensation for this role is $21 per hour; This engagement is for a limited term from approximately October 2025 through January 2025 for 40 hours a week.
