South Carolina Recovering Professional Program (RPP) is committed to protecting the public's safety through the early identification of impaired health professionals who need assistance and the return to safe practice through appropriate referral and effective monitoring, rehabilitation, and recovery.  SCRPP is a confidential referral and monitoring program designed for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists and other licensed health professionals in South Carolina with alcohol or substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, job related burnout, boundary issues, or any other mental related condition or disorder which has the potential to interfere with or impede the ability to safely and effectively treat patients.

The Paralegal serves as the legal assistant to SCRPP’s Special Counsel, Office Manager, Program Director, Medical Director, and Recovering Professional Coordinators with day-to-day and program functions, operations, and monitoring services for the South Carolina Recovering Professionals Program (SCRPP). The Paralegal must display a high level of professionalism, organization, and time management in their interaction with staff, our participants, our partners, referral sources, and the various licensing boards with whom they interact. This individual must be able to analyze, review, and organize participant files and will serve as the primary contact with the LLR liaison.


Position Logistics

  • Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
  • Hiring Range: $47,572 - $61,843 (actual pay commensurate with related experience)
  • Location: In-office for training and consideration for work from home will be given after the successful completion of probationary period.

Minimum Education and/or Experience

  • Paralegal studies certificate with two (2) years of paralegal experience OR

  • Associate's degree in paralegal 

 

Position Overview 

 

  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Provide direct assistance to Special Counsel, Office Manager, Recovering Professionals Coordinators, Program Directo, and Medical Director as needed.
  • Assist in reviewing, editing documents for board hearings, Quality Assurance Committee, Internal Review Committee (IRC), and employers.
  • Assist the General Counsel and Office Manager with file redactions and records requests.
  • Responsible for coordinating board hearings with assigned Recovering Professional Coordinators and the direct point of contact with the LLR liaison.
  • Assist Office Manager with IRC documentation and the Recovering Professional Coordinators with QA documentation as well as ensuring the findings are in the file and communicated to the appropriate participants and staff.
  • Collaborates with agencies involved in the monitoring and provision of services for recovering professionals.
  • Assist with communication with attorneys.
