Tidewater, Inc. is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our financial operations and drive accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the organization. As a key leader, you will oversee corporate and joint venture accounting, audits, and forecasting while guiding a dedicated accounting team. Tidewater was founded in 1983 as an industrial hygiene (IH) and environmental consulting services provider in Baltimore, Maryland. Today, Tidewater has over 140 employees performing work across three divisions involving environmental consulting, facilities, and construction. Our environmental division includes consulting, remediation, radiological, and IH service lines. Tidewater is headquartered in Elkridge, Maryland. We currently have eight offices throughout the United States including California, Ohio, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania with additional personnel working in Japan, Kenya, and Germany. Our business spans over 75 multi-year government contracts and an average of 1,000 projects annually for Federal, State, municipal, and commercial clients worldwide.

Responsibilities Include:
- Direct the financial affairs of the organization and the preparation of financial analysis, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules and the consolidation of parent/sub financials.
- Responsible for all month-end/year-end general ledger entries and closing process for company and Joint Ventures.
- Develop and analyze statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability and performance against budget/projections
- Coordinate and direct the preparation/presentation of the budget and financial forecasts (budget vs. actual variances, trend analysis, revenue projections).
- Responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and property taxes.
- Coordinate all audit activities. Responsible to coordinate and work with external CPA firm auditors during annual reviews and prepare and provide all eliminating journal entries and supporting schedules.
- Prepare monthly cash flow reports and cash flow forecast.
- Possess a good working knowledge of the latest changes in GAAP financial accounting standards, FAR and CAS Cost Accounting Standards, and Federal, State, and local Tax regulations and apply them to company financial processes.
- Knowledge of CMMC as it relates to Government Accounting Standards
- Work with senior staff to develop checks and balances, innovative accounting methods, and revenue-friendly techniques to better manage the accounting division.
- Streamline process flow to enhance accounting procedures for best practices related to company credit cards, house accounts, fuel cards, etc..
- Manage a staff of 3-4 staff accounting staff & coordinate with an off-shore bookkeeping group and successfully handle the following taskings:
- Reconciling the company’s bank statements with accounting system ledgers and sub-ledgers
- Reconciling the Joint Ventures and very small ancillary companies bank statements with accounting system ledgers and sub-ledgers
- Ensuring all billings that need to have an invoice are appropriately prepared and entered an accounting software.
- Ensure collections process is maintained for past-due invoices
- Managing income and expenditure accounts through monthly reconciliation and close procedures
- Generating the company’s financial reports using income and expenditure data
- Analyzing budget cost variance and offer solutions for increased cost savings
- Filing and remitting taxes and other financial obligations
- Initiating and managing financial and accounting software used by the company
- Aid in the preparation of regulatory accounting schedules such as the Defense Contract Audit Agency Incurred Cost Submission, tax schedules, and project schedules for bonding
- Analyze finances to determine risks and create forecasts
- Work with divisions within the company to record WIP and anticipated profitability each accounting period and at year end.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in accounting.
- Possess a CPA credential (preferred but not required)
- Strong team centric, analytical, communication, and computer skills
- Experience with Government Accounting Standards & Government Audits of accounting systems
- Experience with Deltek, CostPoint, or equivalent accounting platforms
- Great attention to detail
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Available to work 100% in Tidewater’s Corporate offices in Elkridge, Maryland.
