Firmware Engineer
Job Summary:
As a member of the engineering organization, this position will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing firmware/software that runs on dedicated hardware within electronic devices used in military and defense applications. Often working closely with electronic engineers to ensure the firmware/software seamlessly integrates with the device's physical components, requiring proficiency in embedded systems programming languages like C/C++/VHDL/Verilog and a general understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) to create efficient and reliable code for various applications up to and including manufacturing test software.

Education/training/experience:
Education/training/experience:
- BS in Computer Engineering/ Computer Science
- Firmware development in embedded systems
- SVN/Git SW maintenance tools
- A team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with various departments and all levels of personnel with diplomacy and emotional maturity.
- Self-motivated, project and schedule driven
Knowledge of:
- Basic principles of electronics, electro-mechanical devices and assembly, materials Plastic molding and stamping technology, MIL-SPEC/STD and Defense Logistics Agency requirements for switches and lighted face plates or equivalent experience.
- Technical proficiency in ruggedized product design and familiarity of specifications including MIL-PRF 22885, MIL-3009, MIL-STD-810F, government agency approvals and others as needed.
Physical Standards:
- This position requires frequently sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and handling/grasping of materials in manufacturing.
- This position may rarely require kneeling, bending, squatting.
- Must have finger dexterity, ability to use keyboard/ten key.
- Reach, stoop and lift office files, records or reports, typically weighing 20 pounds or less.
