VP, IT Operations

The budgeted salary for this role is set at $190,000+

Position Summary:

The Vice President (VP) of IT Operations is a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of the college’s technology operations. This role provides direction and leadership across IT Operations, Infrastructure, Engineering, and Data Analytics, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions that support Nightingale’s mission and learner success.

The VP will collaborate closely with leadership, academic leaders, and operational teams to align technology services with institutional priorities while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and service excellence. 

Role and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership 

  • Develop and execute a multi-year IT operations strategy that aligns with Nightingale’s strategic plan. 
  • Partner with the CIO and leadership peers to ensure technology initiatives directly support academic programs, student services, and business operations. 
  • Anticipate emerging technologies and trends to position the institution for future success. 

IT Operations Support 

  • Ensure IT teams have the resources, staffing, and processes needed to deliver high-quality services. 
  • Establish and monitor service-level agreements (SLAs) for performance, uptime, and issue resolution. 
  • Implement ITIL to improve process efficiency and service quality. 
  • Remove organizational roadblocks so IT Teams can focus on leading their domains effectively. 
  • Champion enterprise-level initiatives and secure funding/resources to advance IT projects. 

People & Culture 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing cross-functional IT team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Create growth opportunities for IT teams through professional development and exposure.
  • Promote clear communication, collaboration, accountability, and transparency in decision-making.

Financial & Vendor Management 

  • Oversee IT operations budget, forecasting, and resource allocation to maximize value and efficiency. 
  • Oversee IT vendor contracts, ensuring service quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Evaluate ROI for technology investments and recommend cost optimization strategies.

    Qualifications and Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field required; Master's degree preferred. 
    • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience. 
    • Demonstrated success in supporting multiple technology domains without micromanaging. 
    • Strong relationship-building and change leadership skills.

      All new hires are required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will pay for travel and lodging accommodations.
