The Maintenance Associate plays a vital role in ensuring that e4c facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained. This position supports day-to-day maintenance, preventative upkeep, and repairs across multiple sites, contributing to a safe and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance including painting, drywall repair, flooring, and basic carpentry.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify safety, repair, and maintenance needs.
  • Respond to work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs (as trained and within scope).
  • Assist with groundskeeping tasks including snow removal, lawn care, and seasonal maintenance.
  • Support preventative maintenance schedules and keep accurate records of work completed.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors when external services are required.
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and fire codes.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Provide on-call support as part of a rotating schedule (including after-hours emergencies).
  • Support special projects, renovations, and facility improvements as assigned.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Completion of building operator certificate or equivalent
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade certification is an asset.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in general maintenance, building operations, or a related field.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry).
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, tenants, and contractors. 

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed across multiple e4c sites (housing facilities, offices, and community spaces).
  • Requires lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, and other physical activities.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor maintenance tasks.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends.
