JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW
This role is responsible for supporting the enterprise Payroll team and leading Payroll related work and projects. It requires a deep understanding of payroll processes, strong project management skills, the ability to collaborate with various teams across HR and the business, optimize and enhance business efficiencies leveraging technology when possible and partner with leadership and HR Transformation on Payroll strategy.
Responsible for effective leadership on projects and daily work that champions a culture of engagement, drives for business results, ensures compliance and incorporates practices and processes that are proactive, agile and scalable.
Lead payroll and business driven initiatives, collaborating closely with other business units and HR teams, while leveraging applicable tools and technology. Manage initiatives from the planning & design phases through implementation and change management, accounting for immediate and long-term impacts to various business functions and HR Centers of Excellences (COEs).
Leverage and support in the development of tools and technology (case management, knowledge management, time tracking, Human Capital Management, etc.) to improve payroll processes, enhance service levels and identify strategies, opportunities and objectives.
Provide support and Payroll training to HR functions and operations; act as a lead partner in ensuring payroll awareness, analysis, reporting, and auditing of programs and processes across Inspire Brands Operations, Support Centers, and within the HR team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the planning, execution, and completion of payroll projects on time and within set budget.
- Work closely with HR and business teams, including but not limited to Benefits, Compliance, HR Transformation, Organization, Change Management, Operations, Accounting and Finance.
- Manage and support the payroll team as needed.
- Ensuring all payroll processes comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Develop and provide support to the Payroll team with Payroll related reporting and analysis leveraging HR systems and vendors as needed.
- Act as Payroll subject matter expertise across payroll processes, payroll compliance and industry best practices.
- Creating detailed reports on payroll operations and project outcomes.
- Participate in RFI & RFP processes, providing payroll requirements and input
- Develop and execute project roadmaps and detailed plans, while managing several workstreams, action items, milestones, dependencies and action items.
- Maintain thorough documentation of payroll projects for future reference and audits.
- Maintain a high level of customer service throughout all aspects of work
- Assist with research and resolution of complex payroll related matters.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality for all payroll-related items.
- Support leadership in managing multiple project deliverables on time.
- Completes ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests.
- Independently prioritize, drive and accomplish high volumes of multiple tasks within established timeframes.
- Lead and manage various projects and process improvements such as system upgrades, compliance configuration changes, and acquisitions, and provide regular metrics, reporting and executive summaries as needed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma required.
- Undergraduate/Graduate degree in business, accounting, or related field preferred.
- Experience (3-5 years) in multi-state full cycle payroll with an emphasis on delivering cross-functional project management required.
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred but not required.
- Experience with Workday or comparable software required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- Strong computer skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills: VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros.
- Experience with various Payroll systems and vendors, including Workday, UKG and ADP
- Experience with project management tools
