REPORTS TO: VP of Communications
LEAD Public Schools is a network of six public charter schools in Nashville, Tennessee, serving students from grades K-2 and 5-12. Our schools include both open and zoned enrollment schools. JOB GOAL
LEAD Public Schools seeks a proven development professional to join its staff, which supports 2,100 students and over 300 faculty members on 6 campuses in Nashville, TN. The Director of Development will work closely with the Board of Directors CEO, and the VP of Communications to craft and execute a strategic fundraising plan encompassing the current school year and beyond.
The Director of Development will operate in all aspects of the organization’s private philanthropy, including: individual donor management, database maintenance, grants, event planning and execution.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
-Minimum 5-8 years directly related experience, preferably in a non-profit or educational organization
-Demonstrated track record of exemplary performance in a team-based environment with multiple stakeholders

-Experience developing and implementing strategic fundraising plans
-A strong work ethic coupled with an enthusiastic and passionate approach to one's work. The successful candidate will be a highly energetic, hands-on individual with a depth of intellect.

Education
Bachelor’s degree required
MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement fundraising strategies and programs. Create fundraising goals and solicit funds to meet goals.
Identify new donors and organizations to solicit funds to meet these goals. Responsible for developing major gift opportunities and writing grant proposals.
Develop an annual fundraising plan to provide strategic input for the development department, including major events, individual giving programs, corporate and foundation relations, and donor services operations.
Create a strong fundraising message that appeals to potential donors
Take the lead in working with the CEO and VP of Communications in developing new funding opportunities
Work closely with the CEO and VP of Communications to raise awareness for the organization and craft messages appropriate to multiple stakeholders
Develop relationships with and directly solicit current and potential funders and partners that lead to increased contributed revenue for the organization
Be accountable for the organization's development goals
Work closely with the Board of Directors, Board Development Committee, VP of Communications, and CEO to cultivate donor relationships and other partnerships, leading to a more robust individual and corporate giving program
Manage participation of the NeST leadership team in development activities to ensure that the organization's financial objectives are met through meaningful and effective relationships
Manage multiple fundraising events and their respective budgets
Provide support to the CEO and VP of Communications in prospecting research, drafting grant proposals and reports, tracking and acknowledging funding sources, and other activities involving solicitation of major gifts and institutional donors
Oversee maintenance of Salesforce donor services database and Mailchimp email marketing campaigns (when relevant to fundraising)
Collaborate internally on special projects and provide leadership and strategic insight on cross-functional teams
COMPENSATION
This is a full-time position. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and includes full benefits, 403b match, technology provisions, and mileage reimbursement.
