We are a top 3 accounting and advisory firm in Western New York with nearly 140 partners and associates, including 70 CPAs serving clients across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and South & Central America. We serve all industries and have deep expertise in small business, manufacturing, education, e-commerce, aerospace & defense, construction, insurance, professional services, private equity, non-profits, and government entities. Our key services include Tax Advisory services, M&A/Transaction Advisory services, State & Local Tax services, Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS), Audit & Attestation Advisory services. We have many additional services that we specialize in. The Role

Development & Teamwork

  • Mastery of all A&A Senior Accountant & Supervising Senior Accountant roles and responsibilities.
  • Complies with all Firm policies and procedures including, but not limited to, time entry, scheduling, CPE, and professional, ethical and quality control standards.
  • Develops relationships with senior client management.
  • Timely responds to clients in accordance with Firm policy.
  • Plans, organizes and controls multiple responsibilities and resources to achieve assignment objectives.
  • Successfully directs and maintains a motivated and empowered work team.
  • Manages the assignment budget and profitability for assigned projects and client engagements.
  • Development of functional specialization and/or industry expertise.
  • Supports the Partners in developing new Firm initiatives to increase retention, meet resourcing needs (including recruitment interviews), utilization and associate development.
  • Regularly attends and actively participates in scheduled Department meetings to assist in client project status and scheduling, relevant technical discussions, etc.
  • Builds strong coaching skills.
  • Shares and transfers knowledge in the team.
  • Actively pursues self-development opportunities.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a large volume of client engagements while maintaining efficiencies and high-quality client service.
  • Ability to manage unanticipated daily disruptions and accommodate and prioritize client needs.

Technical Ability & Business Knowledge

  • Ability to breakdown and communicate complex technical matters into an understandable format for clients with varying levels of knowledge and expertise.
  • Maintains current knowledge of professional standards, and obtains a detailed understanding of emerging laws and regulations to be able teach/train associates.
  • Ensures workpapers and client deliverables are accurate, high quality, and comply with the Firm’s Quality Control Standards, A&A Department Manual, and required regulatory standards.

Business Development

  • Leverages commercial and market knowledge to anticipate client needs for new/additional services and cross-selling opportunities and refers them to the appropriate team member.
  • Develops networking relationships with potential referral sources and peers in industry and competing firms to gain leads and new business for the Firm.
  • Actively participates in blog, article and success story writing, speaking events and Firm-hosted webinars.
  • Actively participates in regular BD team meetings and Firm’s documented sales process. Is prepared with client case studies and new client opportunities and is able to discuss next steps, with the goal being new client acquisition or growth in existing client work. Provides follow up as to the outcome of the engagement as well as presenting on new opportunities.
  • Has active social media accounts and regularly likes, shares and posts new content with the goal of becoming a practice area expert.
