The Manager of Maintenance Training reports to the Superintendent, Training and is responsible for development, coordination, and management for all vehicle maintenance training programs to deliver with the vehicle maintenance instructors to contract maintenance personnel to maintain company standards for operating equipment, providing customer service, and regulations adherence. 

 

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver vehicle maintenance work procedures and training programs for new and current maintenance technicians and service island employees. Training will include diesel and electric vehicle maintenance and operation.
  • Ensure the instructors keep accurate and complete training records  
  • Develop and maintain vehicle maintenance training manuals, individual training criteria and recording.
  • Develop and deliver new mechanic and service island vehicle operation training as well as ongoing job development and skills training for current employees  
  • Manager, evaluate, and coach instructors. 
  • Responsible to manage an effective training program ensuring that maintenance personnel are knowledgeable of policy and procedures, professional development, and technical aspects of their jobs.
  • Serves as a point of reference for quality assurance and standard operation procedure development.
  • Develop and analyze performance metrics and use the data to strategically address the needs of the team to drive process improvements
  • Participate in the interviewing and hiring process for new maintenance technicians
  • Research, design, develop, implement, and administer training programs to increase employee’s knowledge, influence behavior and improve performance.
  • Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action, and reporting safety and security concerns.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES - SUPERVISOR AND/OR LEADERSHIP EXERCISED: Manage department personnel by planning, scheduling, delegating, and overseeing employee work assignments, authorizing, coordinating, and scheduling work with vendors and consultants, conducting personnel actions, including, hiring, and interviewing, and overseeing hiring, training, work assignments, and performance evaluations for Capital Metro personnel. 

Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business or related field. Related experience may be substituted for a degree on a year for year basis up to four years.
  • Class B/CDL license.
  • Three (3) years’ experience delivering training programs, curriculum, and classes for a medium or large organization
  • Five (5) years’ experience in mass transit environment with three (3) years of supervisory or lead experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of authority operations; related safety, labor and transportation regulations; and training principles and practices.
  • Ability to work a varied work schedule, sometimes with minimal notice.
  • Ability to manage inter-departmental projects, supervise employees, develop curriculum and training materials.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including vast knowledge of technical terminology
  • Technical experience in power electronics and diesel equipment
  • Understanding of electrical safe work practices
  • Strong ability to navigate computer maintenance and inventory programs
  • Strong analytical skills, with proven ability to interpret data-driven findings into relevant, actionable, and understandable business insights and actions for effective training

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION: 

This position has been identified as a “Safety Sensitive” position. An Employee in this position is required to participate in the Employer’s testing program for prohibited substances. Participation in this program is a condition of employment with Capital Metro. A safety-sensitive employee is randomly tested for prohibited drug or alcohol misuse while the employee is performing safety-sensitive functions; just before the employee is to perform safety-sensitive functions; or just after the employee has ceased performing such functions.
