ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
(Illustrative, not inclusive)
Tests safety components and functions of electrical equipment
Test, troubleshoot and repair energized systems, including: fire alarm access control and other BMS systems
Plans new or modifies existing installations to minimize waste of materials to provide access for future maintenance or to avoid hazardous, unsightly and unreliable wiring or conduit/raceways
Coordinates with school activities, other trades and public utilities;
Inspects, calibrates and maintain electrical components
Inspects new equipment installations performed by contractors and reports performance status to maintenance supervisors
Be capable and able to operate snowplow, sanding and lawn equipment
This position also includes, but not limited to:
Possess a strong background in all facets of general maintenance
Ability to work independently and be self sufficient
Snow removal and grounds work
Ability to be productive with other tradesman
Assist other tradesman and staff without incident
Must be able to work cooperatively in and around schools without disturbing students
Must be able to organize, prioritize, execute work orders and account for your time
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Involves diagnosing electrical faults and installing, repairing wiring, fixtures, control equipment and other electrical components.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of electrical lockout-tag out procedures per OSHA guidelines
Knowledge of electrical safety practices and procedures
Knowledge of practices and procedures of electrical trade
Knowledge of universal precautions
Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems
Ability to recognize, understand, and interpret all applicable local, state, federal, and national codes
Computer literacy
Ability to operate hand and power tools and equipment
Ability to learn and apply operating procedures
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications
Ability to read and interpret written and/or oral instructions
Ability to meet predetermined deadlines
Ability to perform strenuous, physical work
Ability to work flexible hours and/or shifts
Ability to withstand heights and perform work safely
Ability to climb and work using a ladder
Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods
QUALIFICATIONS:
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or other equivalent (i.e., GED, college, technical, or trade school transcript, foreign equivalency, etc.)
Minimum 5 years of experience in a commercial/industrial setting
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Connecticut Driver’s License. Must be maintained for the duration of the assignment
Copy of driving history issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles
Valid E-2 license preferred
DOCUMENTS (S) REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION:
High School Diploma or other equivalent (i.e., GED, college, technical, or trade school transcript, foreign equivalency, etc.).
Valid Connecticut Driver’s License.
Copy of driving history issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Strength: Medium/Heavy – exert force to 5-100 lbs. May involve significant stand/walk/push/pull.
Physical Demands: Ability to work in confined areas and sustain long periods of bending. Occasional climbing, balancing, crouching and crawling. Frequent stooping, reaching, kneeling, handling, fingering, talking and hearing. Vision: occasional near and far acuity, depth perception, and color vision.
Environmental Conditions: Climate controlled office setting and exposure to weather with temperatures ranging from mild/moderate to extreme cold/heat. Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud and occasional to frequent time periods.
