Job Description:This is an exciting opportunity to experience the Nurse Unit Manager – Anaesthetics and PACU for a 12-month secondment. The Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for the ongoing development of the Anaesthetic and PACU teams from both a strategic and operational perspective in collaboration with the Perioperative Leadership team and Stakeholders. Reporting to the Associate Director Perioperative Services and supported by the Theatre Leadership Team, the role includes, but is not limited to:
- Leading and managing a large team, while building a culture of support and mentorship to ensure positive staff engagement
- Overseeing the daily operational running of up to 12 operating theatres each day including labour management
- Understanding of staff requirements and rostering using MyRoster
- Managing quality and risk as it relates to the anaesthetics and PACU department
- Ensuring the safety of staff and patients is at the forefront of everything you do
- Building a strong rapport with internal and external stakeholders across Epworth
- Commitment to adopt and implement change to improve Patient and Staff experience
- Assist in day to day management of the Anaesthetics/PACU team
You will have:
You are a proven nursing leader who has well-developed people management, organisational and financial acumen skills. An excellent communicator, you have a supportive and engaging style that enables you to easily build rapport with your team, key stakeholders, patients and their families. You foster a supportive environment for patients and staff and enjoy actively contributing to the learning and development of others.
- Current nursing registration with AHPRA
- Possess excellent communication and customer liaison skills with proven ability to motivate and lead a team
- Extensive Anaesthetic/PACU experience
- Committed to achieving high quality clinical outcomes
- Demonstrated experience in building relationships with all stakeholders
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing environments
- Demonstrated ability in financial management and understanding of budgets

Qualifications:Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative/ Perianaesthesia nursing or working towards
Postgraduate qualification in Nursing (Management & Leadership) highly desirable
