What You'll Do:- Qualify to work safely in energized spaces and from an elevated position in the bucket truck
- Assist when needed to remove old hardware from poles and install new
- Provide roadway flagging support for the operation to include obtaining Flagger Certification
- Assist with stripping, cleaving, terminating, and testing cable
- Become familiar with fiber optic equipment such as splicers, OTDR (optical time domain refractometer), traffic identifiers, light-source power-meter, fiber specific hand tools, etc.
- Learn proper methods and procedures for terminating, splicing, and testing fiber optic cables
Working Conditions
- Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel
- Climb poles; carry, set-up and extend ladders weighing up to 65 pounds, as well as work with confidence on ladders and utility poles at heights of up to 60 feet in the air to perform tasks in communications spaces
- Work indoors, outdoors, and underground in various weather conditions
- Able to walk long distances
- Able to lift up to 65 pounds without assistance
- No prior experience necessary
- Valid Driver’s License is required
- Experience operating the following equipment: ladders, bucket truck, cable puller, and reel stands preferred
- Ability to identify independent colors and learn color codes
- General construction and/or flagging experience preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain MSHA Certification
- Must be comfortable working at elevated heights and in confined spaces
- Ability to inspect, operate, and mobilize a bucket truck preferred
