Key Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mill. The uranium milled at Key Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.

 

The Role

You will be responsible for carrying out environmental compliance monitoring activities such as collecting, preparing and shipping environmental samples, data entry and synthesis, and report preparation.  You will assist in providing training and information to employees on environmental issues and environmental aspects of the operation.

 

This is a temporary position with an expected duration of 10 months, with a possibility of an extension.  

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Carry out environmental compliance monitoring activities.
  • Conduct environmental site inspections.
  • Assist in wildlife management activities and programs.
  • Assist with environmental emergency response.
  • Provide support during environmental events.
  • Provide training and information to employees on environmental issues.

 

Required:  

 

  • Environmental/radiation technician certificate or diploma.
  • Two to four years of relevant work experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered.
  • Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
  • Demonstrated field experience working in remote locations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid firearms Possession and Acquisition License (PAL).
  • Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC).



Recommended:

 

  • Emergency Response Team (ERT) and/or Mine Rescue Team (MRT) experience.
  • Previous experience in basic equipment maintenance (snowmobile, outboard motor, all-terrain vehicle, ice auger, and chainsaw) and calibration of field instruments used in environmental sampling.
  • Previous experience sampling or operating a potable water plant.

 

Conditions of Employment:

 

  • Pre-employment substance test.
