We’re seeking a forward-thinking, tech-savvy Internal Communications Manager who thrives on creating connections, driving results, and making processes run smarter. This position can be based in either our Chicago or Washington, D.C. office. Smithbucklin is a hybrid work environment with in-office days established as Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The role reports to the Director of Internal Communications.
In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues from various backgrounds and responsibilities to deliver communications that not only inform but engage employees with our business and culture in alignment with our Values of Optimism, Ambition, Expertise, and Thoughtfulness.
What You’ll Do
Manage projects to ensure consistent and efficient execution.
Write and edit content for our internal communications vehicles and programs.
Manage annual campaigns, including those for charitable giving, employee stock ownership, open enrollment, and volunteerism.
Support diversity, equity, and inclusion communications and partner with our affinity communities and employee interest groups.
Lend communications support to internal social and employee recognition events, and employee education initiatives.
Partner with HR to support Benefits, Talent Development, and Talent Acquisition communications.
Oversee employee branded items for onboarding, campaigns, and events.
Coordinate print production including business cards, corporate photo shoots and employee headshots, and manage digital client welcome signs in meeting spaces.
Work with senior stakeholders to gather input, secure approvals, and ensure alignment.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Five to seven years of internal communications experience with a focus on employee engagement and culture.
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Organized, self-motivated, and collaborative.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint, and experience in Teamwork or other project-management platforms.
Is skilled in technology, including AI-assisted content creation and editing.
Formal supervisory experience is desirable.

Our hybrid environment offers you the option to work from home two days per week. Employees will work a standard 40-hour week, with the possibility of additional hours based on project deadlines.
Smithbucklin considers several factors when determining compensation, including a candidate's recent coursework, training, experience, and certifications, among other considerations. The expected pay for this role is $85,000 - $95,000.
