What will you do as a PMC Nuclear Medicine Technologist

As a PMC Nuclear Tech you will serve as an essential part of the patient’s experience by performing nuclear medicine procedures while working effectively with patients and patient’s families and maintaining a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.

A day in the life of a PMC Nuclear Medicine Technologist may include:

• Greets and identifies correct patients and provides a brief explanation of requested procedures to ensure patient care and patients’ right to know.
• Scheduling and coordinating patient’s exams.
• Prepares and injects radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging procedures.
• Processes diagnostic imaging procedures and records radiopharmaceuticals administration to patients.
• Receives and records appropriate information regarding the receipt of radioactive materials and pharmaceuticals.
• Requests and coordinates all necessary patient information including medical chart, and charge slips.
• Perform quality assurance procedures on the equipment on a daily basis including daily/weekly surveys and wipe testing procedures are required.
• Performs and records daily quality control procedures on specified equipment to ensure correct and accurate operation. Troubleshoot, when possible, and report problems to supervisor.
• Perform daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance of the radiation standards of the department and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Report contamination to RSO.
• Being a key piece in the PMC mission by providing the highest quality of care to our patients and the communities we serve.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of nuclear medicine technology required.   Registered by either the AART or NMTCB and state license required.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year experience in nuclear medicine preferred.
