Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment per manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Performs blade maintenance. Sharpens blades using rotary grinder.
- Conducts diagnosis and repair of all vehicle and equipment systems including: engines, gas, diesel and alternative fueled vehicles. Drives Town vehicles for site visits to repair breakdowns.
- Repairs and maintains riding lawn movers, push mowers, edgers, blowers and trimmers.
- Maintains shop organization and cleanliness. Orders supplies.
- Schedules work and provides customer service to Parks staff.
- Provides training to seasonal staff regarding proper operations and safety of equipment.
- Provides care and maintenance of shop equipment and tools.
- Provides necessary information for completion of work orders and a complete set of records for equipment maintenance, supplies used, description of repairs and labor hours needed to perform repairs.
- Tracks inventory, requisitions parts and supplies. Picks up and orders necessary supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications:
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Experience: At least two (2) years previous experience with turf equipment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Licenses and/or Certifications Required: A valid Colorado Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of procedures, methods, supplies, materials and tools for equipment diagnosis.
- Knowledge of proper and safe repair techniques for equipment and tools.
- Knowledge of proper and safe work practices.
- Skill in repairing equipment, utilizing a wide variety of tools and equipment
- Skill in communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing for effective expression and clarity.
- Ability to understand verbal and written work orders and requests.
- Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Ability to understand and interpret repair manuals and diagrams.
- Ability to maintain necessary work records.
- Ability to drive to and physically access work sites throughout town and to perform work in a variety of weather and environmental conditions.
- Visual, sound, and depth perception and discrimination and oral communications ability.
- Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, grease, oils, solvents, fumes, gases, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations and toxic agents.
Physical Demands:
- Moderate to heavy physical work to including ability to lift up to 75lbs, carry up to 75 lbs, push and/or pull up to 50 lbs
- Frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting
- Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools and electrical equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles
- Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
- Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
Work Environment:
- Works both indoors and outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions
- Regular exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals
Equipment Used:
- This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment
Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and driving record check prior to commencing employment.
