Position Summary
This position is responsible, under the direction of the Pharmacy Director, for the full practice of pharmacy, in accordance with applicable state and federal regulatory statutes and accreditation standards, including interpreting prescription orders and the compounding, packaging, labeling, dispensing, administering and distribution of drugs and devices. The Pharmacist accepts full responsibility as Prescription Department Manager as defined in Florida Statute #465.018 and other requirements as defined in Statutes 465, 893, 499, 456. 120, and Rule 64B16, plus applicable DEA requirements Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations.
Description of Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for patient care
- Provide necessary pharmaceutical services to patients of Palms Medical Group within his/her field of training in accordance with stated policies, procedures and protocols of PMG.
- Identify him/herself as a pharmacist and wear identification badge at all times.
- Exhibit professionalism when greeting and serving patients in the pharmacy.
- Counsels patients on various topics related to medications per state statutes and PMG policies.
- Prepare and dispense medications according to policy and procedures in Pharmacy Policy Manual:
- Responsible for inventory management
- Ensure inventory is checked for expiration dates and handle out-of-date medications as per state regulations and PMG policies.
- Ensure medications are ordered and inventory is appropriately stocked.
- Maintain and update formulary/inventory in pharmacy’s dispensing program, Rx30.
- Clean, organize and maintain professional work areas.
- Responsible for drug administration
- Monitor drug therapy in accordance with OBRA 1990.
- Maintain proper and safe drug storage and proper record maintenance.
- Manage returns and properly dispose of controlled and non-controlled drugs.
- Report all medication errors/quality related events and report to the Healthcare Safetyzone portal.
- Advise providers on prescribing, drug therapy, and drug expense related questions or issues.
- Responsible for administrative duties
- Read and adhere to the Pharmacy Policy Manual.
- Print, sign, and date daily dispensing log reports at the end of every business day.
- Ensure refrigerator log is done daily.
- Be knowledgeable of sliding fee structure and 340B
- Oversee the daily pharmacy activities: employee schedules, work flow and documentation
- Assist with pharmacy compliance to applicable statutory requirements (DEA, Board of Pharmacy) and compliance to other standards (AAAHC, HRSA/340B) applicable to PMG
- Assist in the pharmacy data collection as requested by the CMO.
- Participate on QI and other meetings as directed by the Pharmacy Director or CMO
- Serve as a member of the P & T Committee.
- Perform any other duty assigned by Pharmacy Director, CMO ,or CEO to improve the efficiency of PMG.

Licenses & Certifications:
- Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy
- Current and Valid Pharmacy license in the State of Florida
- Minimum of one (1) year retail experience
- Current BLS (basic life support) Certification
