Manager, Demand and Supply Planning
Position Summary
The Manager, Demand and Supply Planning will play a pivotal role in implementing a robust Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process and leading the integrated planning function. This role is responsible for aligning demand forecasts with supply capabilities while optimizing inventory and enhancing cross-functional collaboration across the organization. The manager will hire, develop, and lead a high-performing planning team, and work closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Procurement to ensure supply chain efficiency and forecast accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Hire, train, and manage the Planning and Inventory teams.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy.
- Promote continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability within the team and across departments.
Demand Planning
- Develop and maintain demand forecasts at multiple aggregation levels and time horizons.
- Analyze historical sales trends, market drivers, and promotional activities to enhance forecast accuracy.
- Facilitate monthly demand consensus meetings with Sales, Marketing, and Finance.
- Use demand planning software and statistical models to support forecasting and scenario planning.
- Coordinate closely with cross-functional teams to adjust forecasts and respond to business changes.
Supply Planning
- Manage end-to-end supply planning including materials, production schedules, and distribution.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet service level goals while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
- Support new product introductions, line extensions, and engineering changes with proactive planning.
- Leverage MRP systems for supply planning.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve supply constraints and ensure timely fulfillment.
S&OP and Strategic Alignment
- Lead and continuously improve the S&OP process, driving alignment between business demand and operational supply.
- Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor forecast accuracy, inventory turns, and service levels.
- Support long-range planning, budgeting, and operational strategy through scenario modeling.
Inventory & Data Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records across sites and production locations.
- Conduct root cause analysis and recommend improvements to reduce forecast error and supply disruptions.
- Analyze performance metrics to identify opportunities for increased supply chain efficiency and profitability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a key liaison between Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Procurement, and Product Development.
- Act as a strategic advisor during product development and commercialization.
- Coordinate with Finance and Sales on budget planning and revenue forecasting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in demand and/or supply planning, preferably in a manufacturing or food production environment.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams and planning processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and demand planning/ERP systems.
- APICS/CPIM certification strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading S&OP implementation and managing integrated planning functions.
