Accountant - Special Education Department na Jersey City Public Schools

POSITION (S):                     Accountant
 
REQUIREMENTS:            
                                Graduation from an accredited college or university with a
                                Bachelor's degree including or supplemented by twenty-one (21)
                                semester hour credits in professional accounting subjects.
 
                 NOTE:    Applicants  who have satisfactorily completed twenty-one
                                (21) semester hours credits in professional accounting courses at
                                an accredited college or university may substitute accounting
                                experience in work involving the installation, operation and
                                keeping of large scale systems of accounts for the remainder
                                of the above educational requirement on a year for year basis
                                with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year
                                of experience.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Performs the routine accounting work involved in theinstallation, operation, and auditing of accounts.

Reviews varied financial transactions and records for conformancewith regulations and established accounting procedures.

May assign and supervise the work of employees performingclerical accounting and other support functions.

Compiles financial and other statements and reports using basicdata.

Conducts routine investigations, examinations, and audits ofbooks and financial records, and prepares reports thereof.

Prepares the routine accounting and statistical tabulations.

Assists in preparing budget requests; prepares current statementsof allocations and disbursements of budgeted funds.

May in design, revise, and install accounting systems.

Performs the routine work involved in auditing and recordingexpense invoices and prepares, audits, and edits reports of costsand other financial summaries and statements.

Checks disbursements for adherence to contractual obligations.

Prepares accounting reports containing findings, conclusions andrecommendations.

Maintains accounting records and files.

Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
